First off- here’s a bit about us!
Brandon and I are in our twenties and have accomplished A LOT in our years together. We have been dating for over 11 years, as high school sweethearts. In August of 2016, we got married, with the wedding hashtag of #hitchedtodietrich, hence the name for this blog! Since then, we have been foster parents, moved into two different houses, renovated one of those houses, hopped around jobs in teaching (Lauren) and marketing (Brandon), attained a Master’s degree (Lauren), adopted a cat, and have traveled to many new places!
Since I am a teacher, summers are our adventure time! Traveling is huge for us- we love to see new places. We went to Italy on our honeymoon, Hawaii twice, and have seen much of the United States. It is our hope that in our Airstream, we can do much more exploring!
With our desire to travel, we have been searching for a way to see places for longer periods of time, as we don’t have kids and only a small house to take care of. When I approached Brandon with the idea of an Airstream, he jumped into the idea! We found the 1969 Land Yacht Overlander on Facebook Marketplace and went to see it. YIKES.
Mouse-eaten, insulation-covered, and reeking of mouse feces and urine, we said YES! And we got it for a steal. My husband is a dreamer, and there was no stopping this plan from going through!
Over the next few months, we are going to document every step of the way, the materials we use, and how we accomplished each element.
Here’s my disclaimer: We are not experts. My husband is not a master carpenter. I’m not an interior designer. The way we do things may not be the way you think is right. But that’s okay. We are new to this and are going to figure it out every step of the way. Please share with us your ideas, and we will do the same!
Here we go! Ready to get our hands dirty.
Much love,
Lauren
