One of the tasks I attacked on Demo Day was cleaning the exterior. I was relatively useless in the small space of the airstream, so the boys helped me set up the power washer to get the dried on gunk off the outside. When we got the airstream, it was underneath trees and sap and other junk had caked on the exterior for two years.

After getting the power washer hooked up, I was able to work. It was slow moving, but really helped get off the stuff caked on. I had to avoid windows, especially those that were missing or cracked.

The hardest part of this was the top of the airstream. I needed a tall ladder and a broom to scrape the top, but it wasn’t very effective. Some of it came off, and looks immensely better than before, but we are still going to need another solution. Brandon is already researching buffing and shining up the outside!
Once the outside was “clean,” we assessed the next steps. Some of these included what do with the trim (currently painted badly), what to do with the silicone that they attempted to use to patch rivet leaks, different solutions for the vents on the top that are no longer needed, and how to fix the broken windows without costing us an arm and a leg.
Much love,
Lauren
