This was, in my opinion, one of our greatest victories in our renovation. Our interior walls were filthy, moldy, and covered in mouse droppings. Early on in our project, we removed the walls and labeled them all, drawing a map to put them back up as we went. We put them in piles to be cleaned and used later. Airstream communities informed us that we would be able to clean them and get them looking good as new. I was apprehensive to say the least.

This was a job I was able to take on, while the boys worked on other far more complicated tasks. I read that people had used a water/bleach mixture. So, I tried it. I used an almost empty cleaning spray bottle and filled it with 50/50 bleach and water mixture. I laid out all the walls on the lawn and hosed them down, attempting to get some of the mud and junk off. I succeeded in getting off the mud, which I feel was an important step. It would have made a bigger mess otherwise.

I worked with a wall at a time. I sprayed it thoroughly (note to future self- don’t do this on a windy day…. ugh), let it sit for a moment, and then scrubbed it with a sponge. Wow! I was impressed. It worked wonderfully. Our dingy walls sparkled like new. A few hours later, I was covered in bleach and miserable, but happy to have accomplished the task.

The walls were READY. And Brandon was ready to put them up! Onto the next step.

Much love,

Lauren
