We’ve been doing all of our renovations at Brandon’s grandmother’s farm, right in the center of a loop in her driveway. This brings a set of challenges for everyday living for her and the family. We’re blocking part of the entrance/exit to her driveway and making backing out of her driveway really difficult, as cars can’t use the loop to turn around.
So, my husband came up with a solution. Since we have additional stone millings from a previous barn project (yeah, I know… another project…), he used the remaining 100 tons that had been sitting in a back field to create an “extension” to the driveway. This way, we could move the airstream onto this extra patch of driveway and get out of the way of the loop.
Unfortunately, on this day we battled with another element- snow. This was the first real snow storm we had gotten all winter, and it wasn’t even that much snow. It was enough snow, however, to make today’s job difficult.
Brandon had hooked up the tractor and borrowed a friend’s dump trailer. He began making trips back and forth, scooping up with the tractor and dumping into the trailer. He drove loads of millings toward the house and dropped them at our spot. It was time consuming, but we successfully made a new place for our Airstream- once it was safe to move!
About two hours into this job, it started to snow. It came down like crazy! To the point where both boys could not see through the snow. Eventually, they were forced to stop, but not before getting a solid foundation of millings to pull the Airstream onto in the next few weeks.
I have a feeling our work will be more far and few between in the next several weeks. The weather in Pennsylvania has been inconsistent, but never giving us a solid few days of work.
Much love,
Lauren
